A DECEPTIVE ORTHODOXY
Fred DeRuvo, 2010
You have to wonder sometimes. Though the visible church is being overrun by Contemplative Prayer, Church Growth movements, Seeker-Sensitive thinking, the Emergent Church, Spiritual Formation and a host of dangerous philosophies that are squelching the authentic gospel with what Paul would call "another" gospel, there are far too many individuals who seem unable to see the forest for the trees. In spite of these trends that are pushing out the gospel of Jesus Christ, many seem to be completely missing that fact. They prefer instead to focus on an aspect of Eschatology (study of the End Times), which has nothing directly to do with authentic salvation, yet they insist is the real link to the growing apostasy! Far too many of these individuals believe the real apostasy-causing problem is found in the Pre-Trib Rapture. This, they say, is either ONE of the major deceptions giving birth to the End Times apostasy, or it is THE deception causing the great falling away. Because of this, these same individuals have precious little time to combat the actual deception that has invaded the visible Church (as listed above), which is leaving full blown apostasy in its wake. Unfortunately, lost souls hang in the balance. The Great Commission has never been rescinded. Let's get to it! View: Premillennial, Pre-Tribulation.

AUTHOR PROFILE Fred DeRuvo is the author of numerous theological books and articles. He received his Bachelor's degree from Philadelphia College of Bible (now Philadelphia Biblical University), and his Masters in Biblical Studies from Tyndale Theological Seminary. Fred has been a member Foothill Bible Church for a number of years, and serves as Deacon and Adult Bible Study teacher. Fred enjoys studying the Bible and in particular, finds great insight in studying prophecy, as he feels that the study of prophecy purifies the believer so that they are less inclined to be concerned with, or tied down to the things of this world. Fred views himself as "on assignment" from the Lord. His job, until he is taken in the Rapture, or dies - whichever comes first - is to bring the gospel to those who are lost, in a world that is dying and will pass away. Christ died for the ungodly and Fred agrees that he is certainly one of those that Christ died for, in order that he might have eternal life, which is God's gift to humanity. Fred endeavors to share the good news of Christ's death and resurrection, which was an atonement for sinful humanity, in order that we might become God's adopted children.
