Preterists believe that prophetic passages were fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and an invisible bodily coming of Jesus Christ at that time.

THE ANTICHRIST AND THE SECOND COMING: A Preterist Examination
Volume I: Daniel and 2 Thessalonians

Duncan W. McKenzie, Ph.D., 2009

What if the commonly held beliefs concerning the Antichrist are mistaken? The Antichrist and the Second Coming looks at the Antichrist and the Second Advent of Christ from a preterist (i.e., past fulfillment) perspective and provides a unified interpretation of the little horn, the prince to come, the king of the North, and the man of lawlessness. McKenzie shows how the Antichrist was ultimately a spiritual ruler from the abyss (Rev. 11:7) that worked through Titus in his three-and-a-half-year destruction of the Jewish nation (AD 67-70; cf. Dan. 9:26). This spirit of Antichrist was about to come out of the abyss in the first century (Rev. 17:8 NASB) and was destroyed by the Second Advent of Jesus in AD 70 (a spiritual event). Continue reading to see how McKenzie convincingly makes the biblical case for this fascinating and controversial position, and what it means for us today. 467 pages, paper, appendix.

The Prophecies of Daniel 2

THE PROPHECIES OF DANIEL 2

John S. Evans, 2008

$23.95Ships within

Although Daniel 2:45 states that the great statue composed of four metals and with feet of clay reveals the future, relatively few biblical scholars have understood it as an amazingly accurate timeline that does exactly that. Liberals have been unwilling to consider that the statue's fourth kingdom is Rome. Most conservatives have recognized that it is Rome, but they have gone astray by seeking a nonexistent link between that ancient empire and the modern world. The key to understanding the statue is to recognize that it presents a prophecy that was fulfilled in the first century by the Coming of Christ, which was the historical equivalent of the rock that destroys the statue. The rock’s growth into the mountain that covers all of Earth foretells a process that began in the first century and includes the thousand years of Revelation 20. This process appears to have reached a historical climax in our own time. 277 pages, paper, Scripture index, subject index. View: Preterist.

Authors of books on biblical prophecy attempt to convince readers that the end of the world is near. The most popular theory promoted by Christian interpreters is one that relies heavily on the book of Daniel. These interpreters contend that Daniel prophesies:

  • The Rise and Reign of Antichrist
  • A 10-Nation Revived Roman Empire
  • Seven-year Tribulation Period
  • The Great Battle of Armageddon
  • Second Advent of Jesus Christ

Utilizing works of biblical scholarship, author Brodrick D. Shepherd scrutinizes this popular theory at its source--the five symbolic visions in Daniel. In detailed discussion, he emphasizes the importance of interpreting these visions within their historical and literary contexts. 152 pages, paper, appendix, index, charts.
